LONDON SELF DEFENCE CLASSES & CLASS TIMETABLE
"The teaching and testing method will prove that RAID does work and by proving it to yourself it will change the way you look at the world."
Jimmy Vari
Level 1 Instructor

In all my life I was always very close to sport and physical activity.
After trying out different sports I
ended up doing martial arts. I tried
Thai boxing, shotokan karate, and for several years trained goju ryu. I opened my first martial arts club in
2002 after gaining first
Dan black belt in goju ryu. I accommodated three other styles as well and trained together with them.
I worked close to organised crime and had to use my skills in real life and not just in a gym in a controlled environment and always felt that something is missing from martial arts but I could not put my finger on it. At the beginning when I was not skilled enough I could not recall learnt techniques in live situations and later when my techniques became reflexive I did not dare to use them because after causing serious injuries worried about the consequences. I had been training with
a police rapid response team and members of a so called ‘atom commando’ responsible for a nuclear power station. I shared my opinion with them and they agreed that they had to be careful when using their skills as the eyes of the public are on them more than on a civilian and they have to justify their action.

I travelled across in Europe and was lucky to train with excellent masters of different styles. I tried to find the missing puzzle and of course tried to improve myself. Meanwhile I gained second Dan in goju ryu but before my third Dan exam I left the federation and gave my titles back as I felt there is too much politics in martial arts and as a person working in a special line of security I was more interested in real life applications than some fancy ninja stuff I cannot use. I tried out the ring, cage, different competitions with pretty good success. So I could not understand why all this don’t work in real life or at least not the way I expected. Started a research in psychology exploring behavioural psychology and the physiology of combat stress. I knew what the problem was but did not know how to overcome this problem. Had some ideas and started to work on them but still had many unanswered questions.
Then I could not believe my luck when I met Tremaine "Trig" Kent who developed RAID system and had the whole package put together. I started to train with him and dedicated myself to RAID. After his hard work to create a teachable system which easy to understand and apply after a relatively short time we got to the point where we can share this system with you. The teaching and testing method will prove you that RAID does work and by proving it to yourself it will change the way you look at the world.
How, Where & When we train
Before any training program is delivered we require the parent unit to complete a confidential Training Needs Analysis which aids in the selection of the correct program. This will keep us within the constraints of your Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and Use of Force policy (Law of Armed Conflict) appropriate for that particular units role. Once the program has been agreed by full delivery presentation by us, the training area will be booked, which can be internal or a secure external location (if simulation training areas such as riot village, are needed these can be booked then). All military delegates will be briefed on the respective program outlining the aims and objectives of the course. There are no constraints of training times and all courses will be delivered to the amount of days allocated (normally from 1 day testers to 6 day full courses)
What Memberships We Provide
The membership for Classes are outlined below. The signup fee includes your manuals and member to member insurance and then you will go onto our monthly billing depending how many sessions per week you intend to complete within the 10 month program:
STEP ONE - Arrange a Taster Session
Once you have made contact with an instructor he will advise you to take part in a taster session where you will be able to join a class, to see how we teach our syllabus. During this session you will be asked to complete a simple tick box training needs analysis which will provide the instructor with the questions he needs to answer for you and to design your defence program around your needs. As previously mentioned our instructors provide a life coaching system and require to work with you inside and outside of the training environment.
STEP TWO - Sign up for Induction
Once you have made the commitment to start learning the RAID system you will need to book a 1 hour induction where our instructors will work with you to explain the best way for you to train (The personal touch). You will also be provided with your Member to Member Insurance and Workbooks that provide the underpinning knowledge of the RAID System. You are then ready to start a life of personal safety. (Click on the one off buy now button to book induction.)

STEP THREE - Sign up for Classes
Once you have booked the induction then you need to pay for the classes you wish to complete per week. This depends on your time and commitment to training in self defence. However the RAID system was designed to take you 10 months at one night per week (4 sessions per month) to complete the course so it is up to you. Also you will find it cheaper per class if you book more (Click on the different pay now buttons below to subscribe to your classes.)
